ONE: May the peace of Christ be with you.
ALL: And also with you.

ONE: We light the candle of hope and peace again as we remember that Christ will come again. Today we light the third candle which is the candle of joy.

ALL: God wants us all to have joy. The angel who announced to the shepherds that Jesus had been born told them: À

ONE: All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God; yet God is merciful as well as just, quick to hear and to forgive. Let us then boldly confess our sins before God:

ALL: Holy God of grace and joy, you have created us for joy; but we often focus on worry, fearing what might be rather than rejoicing in what is. We think about what we want, rather than rejoicing in what we have. For these and every way we sin against you, we ask your forgiveness.

ONE: Christ was born for us. Christ lived for us. Christ died for us. Christ rose for us. Friends, hear and believe the good news of the gospel: in Jesus Christ we are forgiven.

ALL: Hallellujah! Amen!

Our Father who art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.

O God, open our ears that we may hear Your word, and open our hearts that we may feel Your joy filling us deep within.
